Archaeological Museum

Kos Town · History

Why go

The museum shows what was excavated on Kos over the last century: from the Ancient Agora, the Altar of Dionysus, the Roman Odeon and the Casa Romana. The building on Eleftherias Square dates from 1935, the Italian period, and is itself a protected monument.

The most important pieces are on the ground floor: a statue of Hippocrates from the 4th century BC, Hellenistic statues found stored beneath the Odeon, and in the courtyard a mosaic of the seabed from the Casa Romana.
