From Kos to Bodrum

Updated 27 October 2026

Bodrum is on the Turkish coast across from Kos. The ferry from the harbour in Kos Town takes less than an hour, so Bodrum works as a day trip.

The ferry

Ferries leave from the main harbour in Kos Town. Times and prices change with the season, so check them with the ferry company before you go. A rental car stays on Kos.

Passport and entry

Turkey is not in the EU or the Schengen area: there is passport control on both sides, so come to the harbour early. What you need depends on your nationality.

Entry rules by nationality

In Bodrum

The castle by the harbour was built by the Knights of St John, like the Neratzia castle in Kos Town. Inside it today is a museum of underwater archaeology.
